They say that loose lips sink ships so imagine the impact when those lips are your own. When operating as a confident CEO, there are some phrases that you should never utter.
“I can’t do that.”- There’s no problem that can’t be solved. As a leader, it’s your job to be able to think on your toes and get the job done.
“Sorry I’m late.”- Leaders are judged by their actions. If you expect your team to be punctual and respectful of others time, it starts with you as well.
“I don’t know.”- Even if you don’t know, it’s your job to figure it out. There are ways to express the fact that you aren’t an encyclopedia without seeming uninterested or incapable of coming to that conclusion.
Think before you speak. As an entrepreneur you’ll be judged by your actions as harshly as your words. Words and time, they’re two things that you can never get back. Each of the above statements can be relayed with a positive twist. Sometimes, other matters can consume your thoughts, making choosing your words a little harder.
