Don’t be lazy, put the bullet points away. I know, they make life much easier. And they take up space on your PowerPoint presentations, but they aren’t doing anything to get your message across.
TED talk masters found that images, audios, and videos are far more effective than using bullet points. Balance the visual and verbal components of your presentation and you’re guaranteed to keep your audience from falling asleep.
If you’re speaking to chairmen in the boardroom, you may not want to step completely outside of the box. We want you to keep your job. We just want you to do it to the best of your ability in the 21st century. Chances are, if you’re giving a big talk, there’s a lot riding on your delivery. It’s important that your audience is confident in your ability and that you appear to know what you’re talking about. (Even if you don’t.)
